When it comes to syndicating other blogs content on your own site, what is legal and what isn't?

Is there a limitation to how much of the original story / blog post I can use? Maybe 250 characters or less? I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I will of course be linking back to the original source as well. Any insight? When it comes to syndicating other blogs content on your own site, what is legal and what isn't?
There is no problem if the work being syndicated in not copyrighted. When it comes to syndicating other blogs content on your own site, what is legal and what isn't?
There is a no specific limit. That's a common myth about copyright.

A good rule of thumb is this:

If you give people the idea of what the original story contains so they can make an intelligent decision about whether to read that story or not, you're okay.

If you are substituting for the original work so that people do not need to read the story, you may not be okay.

Sadly, there is no definitive answer. See the article below on "fair use", which is the term for what you are doing.
