This has been asked before, it must be in the archives somewhere.
However , if you have a specific expertise in an area, eg. disabilities, technology, religion etc. then submit some possible columns to your local newspaper.
Most people don't get syndicated right away , unless their writing or area of expertise is exceptional.
Usually a syndicator will read your columns in whatever newspaper or magazine , although magazines are harder to break into like major newspapers and then offer you a contract for so many columns at such and such a price. You work to gain a good reputation and it takes awhile you just don't become a syndicated columnist.
